Fourty years on, the Beatles remain the biggest musical phenomena the world has ever seen. Formed in Liverpool, England, in 1957, they enjoyed much domestic success before hitting the big time leading the 'British Invasion' of the US in the mid 60's. Their music covered many different genres from 50's rock'n'roll & homegrown skiffle to tin pan alley & psychedelic rock. Rolling stones magazine voted them the No.1 best selling music act of all time, with over 1 billion records sold by 1985. Within this time, they topped the charts an incredible and unsurpassed 40 times. Many would agree that some of their best material was imbodied on the album classic, Abbey Road. As iconic as the music itself, was the photo for the album cover, taken by photographer Iain Macmillan. Little did he know that a photo he was only given 10 minutes to take at 11.30 one morning in 1969, would become one of the most famous and most imitated album covers in recording history.
